I noticed a small crowd lining up and wanted to seewhat everyone was waiting for. Aside from the people in line, Maison Nico is easy to miss. There are no conspicuous signs outside and the storefront is small with only a glass display of some pastries showing from the outside. Stepping Inside, the cafe opens up more. There are a few tables, and the interior strikes a pleasant middle ground between modern minimalism and an old world patisserie. There were a wide range of pastries on display as well as baguettes and a few other offerings. I went with the Pain au Chocolat. At $5.50, it's definitely on the pricier side--but then again, what isn't these days? As far as taste, it was solid; a nice chocolate filling surrounded by buttery layers of pastry. My only two critiques were the 1) price and 2) that it lacked that signature flaky crispy exterior. Overall, I really enjoyed Maison Nico. The service was quick, the cafe is charming, and the pastries are solid.

10 stars for that girl working the cash register today. It was my first time eating alone there and I had a lot of anxiety but she was very friendly so I succeeded in my challenge today. Pain au chocolat - perfect size and sweetness, not oily, crispy. I really liked their tea too and the cannelé I ordered. For a total of what $13-14 thats a great price compared to other places charging way more for less quality. My only feedback is I would prefer they use actual plates (like ceramic or porcelain) for that classic look or feel. The place is so fancy already but the lightweight pink plates are kind of an odd choice.

Everything was really good here, would definitely recommend coming here. They really should start serving their coffee "for here" instead of to go only though, but that's my only complaint and everything else aaa so good I'm not gonna knock off a star for that.

I've come here around 4-5 times now and it always hits the spot! The place is small and there is typically a line out the door since they only allow one party to order at a time, but the croissants are so so worth it. Their menu is limited and depending on the season, they will rotate out croissant flavors so expect some fun and unique ones. This last time I visited they had a black sesame orange croissant which was delicious. The time before that it was a raspberry croissant. There are some tables outside for customers to use but for most, this is a grab and go kind of spot. I will say that from the times I've went, around 3-4pm is when they start to sell out of most items. I'd highly recommend getting there early in the morning to ensure you get the freshest, crunchiest pastries!

This is a woman run business that is a great bakery. I loved my coffee and black sesame chocolate croissant. Yes you read that right!!! Black sesame chocolate croissant and it was delicious!! The industrial feel of the place was efficient with a counter to order from and a few tables to sit at overlooking the kitchen. I will return when I am in the area again!

Viv la Maison Nico! You're just as pretty enough to transform Jackson Square into another Paris where the easily recognizable Transamerica Pyramid turned into Eiffel Tower! How I adore you! I finally had the last brioche bun before other people were eager to buy one. It was my brother's idea that he wished to sink his teeth into the most mouth watering pastry that he showed me on an insta-video. When I first came before closing time, it's never their. Then the next other day on the weekend, a huge line with no luck. After shopping from the Ferry Building Farmers Market to head to Maison Nico before the Chinese parade and festival, there I had it. My family and I each have a separate piece without reheating the brioche bun. Still fresh, fluffy, and on top of that, delicieux! A rare treat to remember! The next day after work, I came all the way to Maison Nico one last time just to let them know how good they baked the brioche bun at its finest. This time, I buy something else. The Lemon Tart truly rocks! Even though it's expensive, it's still a money's worth down my hatch. I'll visit Maison Nico once I have enough money to pay for another high quality baked goods.

The mandarin black sesame croissant was freaking amazing! It has a honey sweetness to it, not overly sweet but just sweet enough and it was filling! The croissant was flavorful and crunchy throughout with dried candied mandarins on top and a black sesame paste inside. Would definitely order this again! Tried the Choux de Saison which I don't know what it was, had a little worm looking squirt on top with a gold flake. The whipped cream filling tasted like sour cream to me. The dough was superior to other cream puffs Ove had but I didn't enjoy anything else about it. The line was not bad at all! The only thing is there is a sign asking folks to wait outside while they serve each group and I don't think everyone read us the sign so while we were waiting folks just kept walking in and standing inside. Thankfully one couple let us cut the line to make up for those who cut in front of us. But overall a really cool spot and I want to go back to try more.

The bacon potato quiche here was mind- blowing . So savory and cheesy with a delicate, flaky crust! The pastries looked amazing too.

I've been meaning to come here for a while, but the last time I tried they were out of the chestnut croissant. This time I came on a Saturday morning and they had plenty of availability. Seating is quite limited and you may be standing for a while waiting for a seat to open up. Service was also a little standoffish but nothing too horrible. We got the chestnut croissant and pain au chocolat. The chestnut croissant had a very subtle chestnut flavor, but the croissant itself was light and flakey. I enjoyed it! The pain au chocolat was also really good - the outside was more pain suisse-esque and was crunchy and slightly sweet. The chocolate inside was also nice and soft. If you want to try some good French pastries, this is a great spot for it!
